Country songs mostly tell stories of relationships - of loves lost, sadness in relationships, joy in relationships, yearnings and the simple hopes and aspirations of everyday people. These stories are sometimes told humorously, and sometimes with heart aching pain, but they are always eloquent, simple and to the point and, although it sprang from the poor rural folk in the USA, it is now acknowledged as a global musical genre - irrespective of who sings it.
People often come to Country Music later in life, when they have seen through the superficiality of the “Pop” world, and that includes the performers. Just about every world-class act eventually turns up in Nashville to make a Country record, often something they have always wanted to do but, for commercial reasons, were wary of being categorized as “going Country”.

In the UK, it is often difficult to perform Country Music without it being perceived as a US-based minority-interest music form. Yet, mostly unknown to the British public, Country Songs have been used by many non-Country artists to score hits within the charts – because the songs are so good.
Kay’D has quickly come to realize that Country Music has some of the very best songs ever written and, true to her spirit, she refuses to disguise the source of her inspiration. Rather than try to commercialize the sound of the songs she loves, she sings them in the simple unadorned style that she thinks best suit them – and writes her own songs guided by the same principles.
And if that’s Country Music, that’s fine by her.
